Taking the Leap

After attending Craftcation 2015(amazing!!) in March, I have spent hours thinking how I want to grow as a "crafter". Joining the Long Beach Modern Quilt Guild last winter and investing more "me" time in developing my sewing passion has resulted in my thoughts about my future in creating. The results of these activities is the beginning of this blog. Let's back up for a minute. I have been teaching English/Language Arts for the last 21 years. I started right out of college and am thrilled to be a teacher. I have a son and a daughter who both attend the same school I have worked at for the last 17 years. Seventh grade kids, my students, provide an unique perspective on the world; every day is different. In fact, every hour is different. So, although the majority of my writing will be about sewing and creating, stories about my students, children, and husband may creep into a blog post or two. How can I not mention that I was recently was advised by a student that if I plan to have more kids should do it now because my eggs will vanish at 50! First of all, 50 is quite a few years away! Secondly, my reproductive plan isn't really up for public discussion. Lastly, ummm…thanks…but no thanks, keep your health lessons to yourself. I would love to say this is rare, but it is not. I am hoping that this is a place where I can sharing my sewing experiences, with an occasional scrapbooking or teaching experience thrown in for a bit of variety! Welcome! Samantha
